Nutrition Counseling

HOW IT WORKS

Nutrition counseling involves so much more than simply me telling you what to eat. In the initial session, I’ll learn as much as I can about you, your eating habits, your general lifestyle, pertinent medical history, and health goals. From there, I’ll assess which habits could use improvement, and together, we’ll discuss an action plan to accomplish your goals.

The keys to changing habits are consistency and time, so regular follow-ups are essential for success. Everyone’s baseline is different, but generally I find that at least 2-3 follow-ups are necessary. Check-ins can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, depending on your schedule and how much you’d like to accomplish.

WHO I CAN HELP

While I specialize in preventative nutrition (what some call “lifestyle medicine”), I am also trained in utilizing Medical Nutrition Therapy. If you suffer from chronic health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, IBS or the like, I can provide dietary guidance specifically for these conditions. Your doctor can provide you with an MNT referral so that you can be reimbursed by your insurance company.

session details

  • initial consult

In this 60-minute session, we’ll do a deep dive into your lifestyle, medical history, eating and physical activity habits. We’ll come up with a few small, tangible goals for you to work on in the time until our next session. I will be available via email to answer any quick questions you may have.

  • follow-ups

We can meet weekly, biweekly, or monthly. It all depends on your schedule and goals. These sessions will be 30 minutes. We’ll review the goals we set in the previous session, and discuss what’s working/not working. It’s super important to keep these appointments, even if you aren’t feeling successful. It’s in these sessions that the real work gets done!
